BAR EXAM
Most states in the U.S. require prospective lawyers to take a Bar Exam prior to their admission to the practice of law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
Each state has its own state Bar, with its state-specific licensure requirements, although 41 U.S. jurisdictions have now adopted the Uniform Bar Examhttps://www.calbar.ca.gov/Admissions/Examinations/California-Bar-Examination, which allows candidates to obtain a portable score that can be transferred from one UBE jurisdiction to another without the need for the applicant to sit for the Bar Exam in the transferee UBE jurisdiction.
Those jurisdictions which have not currently adopted the Uniform Bar Exam are:
